An extra sitting day in the second phase of the Accountability and Reparations investigation will be held on 5 February 2020.
Three days of public hearings in this phase were held from 26-28 November, focusing on the law of limitation and potential redress schemes.
However, a senior civil servant from the Ministry of Justice could not give evidence as planned due to rules about what civil servants may do during a general election.
The Inquiry will now hear from that witness and a representative of the Local Government Association as part of two panels during the further hearing day.
Closing statements, which are normally delivered after all the evidence has been heard, will also be made on that day.
The report into the first phase of the Accountability and Reparations investigation was published on 19 September 2019. It focused on five case studies from across England and Wales.
