Inquiry to hold three preliminary hearings in July

The Inquiry has today announced that it will hold three preliminary hearings this month. 

The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse has today announced it will hold preliminary hearings in three of its investigations.  All preliminary hearings will be held at the Inquiry hearing centre, 18 Pocock Street, London, SE1 (nearest tube is Southwark Station).

The full details are as follows:

Tuesday 23 July 10.30 am - Children in the care of Lambeth Council 

Agenda items include:

  • Update on the Lambeth investigation to include an update on Core Participant applications

  • Any other applications or submissions from core participants


Tuesday 23 July 2.00 pmChild protection in religious organisations and settings 

Agenda items include:

  • Update on the investigation

  • Core participant applications 


Thursday 25 July 10.00 am - Child Sexual Abuse in Residential Schools (phase 1) 

Agenda items include:

  • Update on the closed schools narrative

  • Update on matters relating to residential music and special schools, including:

i) Rule 9 requests for witness statements and documentation

ii) Disclosure

iii) Hearing and witness timetable

  • Brief update on phase two

Preliminary hearings are not live streamed on the Inquiry website, however they are open to the public and a transcript of proceedings will appear shortly after each hearing finishes.
