Inquiry investigation hearings to be held in September

29 August 2019

The Inquiry is set to hold preliminary hearings in two investigations in September.

A preliminary hearing into institutional responses to allegations of child sexual abuse involving the late Lord Janner of Braunstone QC will take place on 24 September at 10.30am.

At 10.30am on 25 September, a preliminary hearing will be held in the Roman Catholic Church investigation.

These hearings will provide an update on the scope and progress of the two investigations, as well as giving legal representatives of core participants the opportunity to make submissions.

Preliminary hearings are not live-streamed, but they are open to the press and public.  A transcript of each hearing will be available on the Inquiry’s website.

From 30 September to 11 October, a public hearing will be held in the first phase of the Residential Schools investigation. This hearing will examine music schools and special schools.

All of the hearings will take place at the Inquiry’s hearing centre at 18 Pocock Street, Southwark, London SE1 OBW.
