Inquiry Research Project is seeking bids to carry out research work

25 August 2016

The Inquiry is seeking bids from research bodies or institutions to carry out a Rapid Evidence Assessment on the social and political discourses about child sexual abuse

The Research Team at the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) is seeking to commission a Rapid Evidence Assessment (REA). The REA should identify, review and synthesise existing high-quality literature on the social and political discourses about child sexual abuse in England and Wales from the 1940s to the present day.  The REA should also examine the way in which those discourses may have influenced institutional responses to such abuse.

The aim of this research is to assist IICSA in understanding the ways in which evolving social discourses, norms, and attitudes around childhood, child sexuality and child sexual abuse may have shaped institutional responses to the issue in different ways over time. The insight generated by this REA will help to inform IICSA’s investigative work, and longer term reports.

We are seeking a research provider with expert knowledge of the subject area, a proven track record of delivering high quality REAs for government or other high profile clients, and the capacity to deliver the project within challenging timescales.
