Part of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, the Truth Project provides a safe and supportive opportunity for survivors to share their accounts and put forward suggestions for change. It will conclude in October 2021 so the accounts shared can inform the findings and recommendations in the Inquiry’s Final Report, due to be published next year. To date, over 5,600 victims and survivors have come forward.
Participants have described feelings of catharsis and empowerment after coming forward, with many saying that, by sharing their account, they hoped to help others who had been through a similar experience.
“Life changing ... Helping others is important to me, but helping myself first will help me support others.”
- Truth Project participant
Accounts shared make an important contribution to the work of the Inquiry and help to inform recommendations for change to Government and other institutions.
