Research & Seminars

The Research and Analysis Project is one of the three core parts of the Inquiry, working alongside the Truth Project and the Public Hearings Project.

As part of the Research and Analysis programme of work, we will hold a series of seminars.

What are seminars?

The purpose of the seminar series is to gather information and views about important topics, to help the Inquiry to identify areas for further investigation and scrutiny. They do this by

  1. Providing information for current investigations and future hearings to consider.
  2. Gathering the latest views on topics that may not yet be publicly available.
  3. Consider the implications for the four themes for change set out in the Chair’s December 2016 review: cultural; structural; financial; and professional & political.

How will seminars work?

Each seminar will have a structured discussion among the invited participants which will be led by a member of the Inquiry Counsel team.

We will issue invitations to relevant stakeholders and victims and survivor groups to actively participate in the structured discussion. The structured discussion can follow a presentation of research work conducted for the Inquiry, or an ‘expert presentation’.

After each seminar has taken place, we will publish transcripts and a video recording of the event as well as a report on what happened on this website .

How can I watch or take part in a seminar?

These seminars will be broadcast live on the web. In addition, members of the public may attend in person to observe proceedings - spaces are available on a first come first served basis.
