What survivors told us

What survivors told us

The Truth Project gave victims and survivors an opportunity to share their experiences with the Inquiry and put forward suggestions for change. Over 6,000 people took part in the Truth Project to ensure thier voices were heard.

After fighting to be heard, I feel the Truth Project has been a massive beacon of hope for change in how we see and prevent abuse

Every child, every person has the right to go through life without the fear of being abused

I feel less alone in the world

Thank you Truth Project for giving me a voice and a chance to tell my story which as a child I could not have done. I now feel more at peace for having had the opportunity to feel heard and truly listened to

This is not about me, it's about protecting tomorrow's children

I carried the weight of my experience for such a long time; to speak about it was a release

If anything I have said helps someone in the future, it was worth it

We may never completely stop abuse, but we can stop turning away from it

I felt like a victim, now I feel like a survivor

By learning from the past, we can help better protect future generations of children

I was heard. I was believed. I can't change my past but I can shape my future

To be listened to and believed has lifted so much from my shoulders. I feel today is the start of the rest of my life
