Update on the work of the Inquiry

5 August 2016

The work of the Inquiry continues.

As announced on 4 August, Hon. Dame Lowell Goddard DNZM has resigned as Chair of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.

The Home Secretary has confirmed in a statement that the Inquiry’s work remains an absolute priority for the Government, and that it should continue without delay.

Investigations, research activity and Truth Project private sessions will continue as planned, and victims and survivors are encouraged to continue coming forward. Those victims and survivors who have already chosen to share their experiences with us continue to make a valuable contribution to our work, which will be carried on as the Inquiry moves forward.

The appointment of a new Chair is a matter for the Home Secretary.  We are committed to ensuring that the work of the Inquiry continues to be conducted as transparently as possible, and will provide further updates as soon as they are available.
