What survivors told us

What survivors told us

The Truth Project gave victims and survivors an opportunity to share their experiences with the Inquiry and put forward suggestions for change. More than 6,000 people took part in the Truth Project to ensure their voices were heard.

I hope children who are going through it now can speak out; I hate the thought of them suffering in silence like I did

The Truth Project has helped people like me be heard for the first time

I am proud to be part of the change

I hope that by hearing us, society learns to take note of what we say. We may never completely stop abuse, but we can stop turning away and closing our eyes and ears to it

Sharing my experience was another step towards rebuilding my self esteem and knowing that my worth is not defined by damage done to me as a child

It took months for me to pluck up the courage to contact the Truth Project, but I can honestly say, it has been the best thing I could ever have done. Thank you so much for allowing me and many others to be heard

Thank you for giving victims of child sexual abuse a voice

I felt empowered, respected and valued

I have spoken about my experiences countless times over the years, but rarely have I felt quite so supported

I lived with a heavy heart for years with my secret. The Truth Project helped with my healing and for that I will always be grateful

The work the Inquiry has done has been long overdue for thousands of children, like myself, who had no-one to stand by them

Even if the Truth Project has protected just one child from being abused, it will have been worth it
